MOJTABA TAJIK

Mojtaba Tajik (b. 1966, Tehran) is an Iranian painter whose practice began with photography before developing into painting. He was trained under the Iranian painter Aydin Aghdashloo and is particularly known for his hyperrealist approach to ordinary objects and still-life imagery.

Tajik often photographs the objects that become the starting point for his paintings, removing them from their everyday context and transforming them into symbolic forms. Boxes, drawers, cabinets, suitcases, and other familiar objects recur throughout his practice, most notably in his long-running “Boxes” series.

His work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including a solo exhibition at Dastan’s Basement in Tehran in 2016, titled Things.
