AMIR HOSSEIN AKHAVAN

Amir Hossein Akhavan (b. 1980, Tehran) is a painter whose practice draws on the tension between personal experience, social realities, and the visual language of art history. His paintings move between figuration and abstraction, often bringing together human subjects, historical references, and imagery drawn from contemporary life.

Akhavan studied painting at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts and continued his artistic education through programs and residencies in the United States, including the New York School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture and the Vermont Studio Center. His practice has also included an extended collaborative relationship with artist and printmaker Gary Lichtenstein.

Based in Tehran, Akhavan has presented his work in solo and group exhibitions across Iran, the United States, Europe, and the wider Middle East. His exhibitions include presentations at Etemad Gallery and Araan Projects in Tehran, alongside international exhibitions and collaborations.
