Biography
Ahmad Morshedloo (b. 1973, Mashhad) is an Iranian painter whose practice centers on the observation of everyday life and the human figure. Working primarily across painting and drawing, he examines ordinary encounters and states of stillness, often transforming familiar scenes into quiet and psychologically charged compositions.
Morshedloo studied painting at Azad University in Tehran before continuing his education at the University of Art, where he graduated in 2001. Based in Tehran, his practice has developed through a sustained engagement with contemporary Iranian society, with particular attention to the individual, social relationships, and the tension between familiarity and estrangement.
His work has been exhibited extensively in Iran and internationally, including presentations in London, New York, Milan, Beijing, and Berlin. His selected exhibitions include Unveiled: New Art from the Middle East at Saatchi Gallery in London and Iran Inside Out at Chelsea Art Museum in New York. His work is also held in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
