ADEL YOUNESI

Contemporary Iranian Artist

Biography

Adel Younesi (b. 1985, Hamadan) is an Iranian painter whose practice explores the intersection of history, memory, imagination, and contemporary experience. Working primarily through painting, he combines figures drawn from historical photographs with improbable settings, vivid colours, animals, and symbolic elements.

Younesi’s works move between realism and the fantastical, bringing images and impressions from the past into dialogue with the present. His compositions often draw on themes of history, religion, conflict, faith, survival, and human experience, creating poetic and psychologically charged scenes in which reality and imagination overlap.

Younesi studied painting at Hamadan University before continuing his artistic practice in France. His work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally, and he has received recognition including the First Prize at the Third Youth Art Festival and the 13th Iranian Visual Arts Festival.
