NICOLAS JAMES
Multidisciplinary British Artist
Biography
Nicolas C James is a British multidisciplinary artist, writer, and musician whose practice moves between visual art, literature, and sound. His work explores memory, perception, and the relationship between individual experience and collective consciousness.
Working across painting, writing, and music, James approaches creativity as a form of exploration and reflection. His visual practice, rooted in lyrical abstraction and abstract expressionism, draws on nature, personal experience, and the shifting ways in which memory and perception shape our understanding of reality.
Alongside his visual practice, James develops literary and musical works, including projects under the alias Ragman Jones. Across these different forms, his practice remains concerned with how experience is remembered, reconfigured, and expressed through different structures and mediums.
