MOHAMMAD HAMZEH

Mohammad Hamzeh (b. 1963, Tehran) is an Iranian painter whose practice explores the human figure, portraiture, and the transformation of familiar forms. His work is particularly known for his “Crumples” series, in which painted figures and faces appear distorted and folded, reflecting his long-standing interest in perception, identity, and the effects of time.

Hamzeh began painting under the supervision of Iranian master Aydin Aghdashloo in 1983. He held his first solo exhibition at Golestan Art Gallery in Tehran in 1992 and has since participated in numerous national and international exhibitions. His Crumples series began in 2001 and later expanded from works on paper to larger paintings on canvas.
