BIJAN RAFATI
Contemporary Iranian Artist
Biography
Bijan Rafati (b. 1944, Tehran) is an Iranian self-taught artist whose multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, sculpture, collage, video, and conceptual art. His work has developed through an ongoing engagement with abstraction, material, and the relationship between image and form.
Rafati studied Economics and Political Science at the National University of Iran before continuing his studies in Economic Development at Bowie State University and Harvard University, where he later taught. Despite his academic background, he eventually turned toward painting and music, developing an independent artistic practice outside formal art education.

His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions, and has appeared in international auctions and collections, including presentations by Bonhams in London.
